Seoul police arrest man for allegedly killing former partner
A man in his 60s was arrested by the Eunpyeong Police Station in Seoul for the alleged murder of a woman in her 70s, his former partner. The suspect was apprehended at his residence in Bulgwang-dong after attempting self-harm following the crime.
Police discovered the victim after receiving a missing person report and tracing her mobile phone location. The suspect had previously been investigated for stalking the victim in July. While police had requested an arrest warrant, it was not filed by prosecutors, leading to temporary measures instead. These measures included detention in a holding cell and the mandatory use of an electronic tracking device (ankle monitor).
The suspect's electronic monitoring period ended on October 22. The killing occurred approximately two weeks after the tracking requirement expired. Authorities are investigating the specific motives and circumstances of the incident as the suspect receives medical treatment.
