Seoul St. Mary's Hospital quintuplets celebrate second birthday

The quintuplets Sae-him, Sae-chan, Sae-gang, Sae-byeol, and Sae-bom, who were born via natural conception at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, have reached their second birthday.

Born at 27 weeks due to maternal preeclampsia, all five children were extremely premature, weighing less than 1kg at birth. They required intensive care in the neonatal intensive care unit, with some undergoing surgery for intestinal perforation and others receiving prolonged respiratory treatment. One child remained hospitalized for six months.

Following their discharge, the children have remained under the continuous developmental monitoring of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital and St. Nicholas Children's Hospital. Medical staff have been tracking their motor, cognitive, and language development. Their mother shared that the children are now healthy and attending daycare, expressing hope for other parents facing similar challenges. The quintuplets were appointed as official ambassadors for Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in January.
