Seoul St. Mary's Hospital wins multiple awards at ICBMT 2026

The Hematology Hospital at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital has secured eight awards at the 2026 International Conference on Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (ICBMT 2026) held in Busan, marking its second consecutive year of leading award counts at the event.

Researchers presented various studies focused on improving treatment outcomes and reducing side effects for blood diseases. Key findings included the analysis of Belumosudil for chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) by Professor Jae-ho Yoon, and new treatment alternatives for patients who fail CAR-T therapy, presented by Professor Ki-jun Min.

Other significant research addressed pediatric leukemia, showing a 73.3% complete remission rate with CAR-T therapy, and the necessity of precision dosing for anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) based on individual body composition to reduce mortality risks. Additionally, studies highlighted the effectiveness of autologous stem cell transplantation in elderly patients and confirmed that the age of a matched sibling donor does not negatively impact transplant success in patients with severe aplastic anemia.
