Seoul to host Fintech Week 2026 and launch AI Baby Unicorn Center
Seoul is expanding its support for the artificial intelligence and fintech sectors through two major initiatives. The city will host ‘Seoul Fintech Week 2026’ from January 26 to 28 at Conrad Seoul and the IFC area. Co-hosted by the Financial Supervisory Service and Shinhan Financial Group, the event focuses on ‘AX-based digital financial transformation.’ The program includes the ‘Finnovation Challenge’ awards, keynote speeches on AI agents in finance, and a demo day for approximately 21 fintech companies to attract investment.
In a separate strategic move, the Seoul AI Hub has announced plans to establish a ‘Baby Unicorn Center’ by 2027. This facility will specifically target AI startups that have secured cumulative investments of at least 5 billion KRW. Unlike existing incubation centers that focus on early-stage validation, the new center aims to provide scale-up support, including expanded office space, access to GPU computing resources, and connections to global venture capitalists and large corporations. The initiative is being developed in cooperation with the Korea Angel Investment Association to bridge the gap between initial technical development and large-scale market expansion.
