Sepals and Von Hauke target Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes glory

Trainer Cliff Brown is preparing horses Sepals and Von Hauke for the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield this Saturday. The pair previously finished second and third respectively in the Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm in June.

Sepals aims to become the first horse to win consecutive Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes titles since Testa Rossa in the 1999-2000 season. After winning last year from barrier 14, Sepals will carry 56.5kg this time and will be ridden by Ethan Brown.

Von Hauke, who will be ridden by Harry Coffey, has drawn more favorably in barrier 6. Brown noted that Von Hauke has become more tractable and capable of racing closer to the lead compared to previous races where poor draws forced a more conservative approach.
