Separate attempted murder arrests reported in Maryland and Louisiana

Authorities in Maryland and Louisiana have arrested suspects in connection with two separate shooting incidents.

In La Plata, Maryland, Diontrae La Shaun Gantt has been charged with attempted murder following an October 17 shooting on Pomonkey Way. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported that an adult male was critically injured in the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect and victim were known to each other and that the shooting was not random. Gantt is currently being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center.

In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 28-year-old Aaliyah Street was arrested for attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, and aggravated assault. Police say the shooting occurred after a confrontation regarding a man. Street reportedly fired multiple shots at a woman, who was struck five times but is expected to survive. Street turned herself in to the Port Allen Police Department following the incident.
