Separate criminal investigations launched in Dominican Republic

Authorities in the Dominican Republic are investigating two distinct incidents involving deceased individuals. In Sabana de la Mar, a male body in an advanced state of decomposition was discovered floating in the Yabón River near a river diversion around 5:00 p.m. Amaury Rodríguez, director of the Civil Defense in Sabana de la Mar, confirmed the discovery. Due to the condition of the remains, formal identification has not yet been possible, and officials are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

In a separate incident in the Nagua municipality, a body was found buried in a clandestine grave in the community of Pescadero. Investigators believe the remains may belong to Anderson Rodríguez, a young man who had been missing for 16 days. The location of the body was revealed through the confession of an individual already in custody. The remains have been transported to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) in Santiago de los Caballeros for DNA testing and autopsy to confirm the identity and circumstances of death.
