Montreal Mayor supports Police Chief amid officer misconduct allegations

Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada has expressed her trust in Police Chief Fady Dagher as the service faces multiple allegations of officer misconduct. Martinez Ferrada noted that changing the culture of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal will take time and emphasized the importance of officers denouncing improper behavior.

Chief Dagher is scheduled to address several recent incidents, including allegations that an officer concealed evidence related to a 2025 domestic violence investigation. Reports suggest an officer may have erased evidence provided by a victim in the Montreal-Nord neighborhood.

Additionally, the police department is providing updates on previous investigations, including the suspension of four officers over allegations of racist misconduct earlier this year. The Chief will also address the suspension of two downtown officers, one of whom allegedly urinated on homeless individuals and another who allegedly posed for mocking photos of suspects.
