Separate fires reported in Chile and Peru

In Yungay, Chile, a house in the San Miguel de Itata sector was destroyed by a fire, reportedly caused by a lightning strike during thunderstorms. Emergency teams from Yungay, Campanario, and Cholguán responded to the scene in the Doña Paula villa. While the structure was a total loss, no injuries were reported, and the building was believed to be unoccupied at the time.

In Puno, Peru, a forest fire near the Uros Islands in the Chulluni and Chimu sectors was extinguished after destroying approximately 200 hectares of natural vegetation, including dry reeds and grass near Lake Titicaca. The fire, which had reactivated on Wednesday, was brought under control by the Peruvian Navy, local municipal personnel, and Fire Company No. 42. Rainfall in the area assisted in the mitigation and eventual extinction of the blaze. No casualties were reported.
