Separate hit-and-run and assault incidents reported in Italy
Two distinct incidents involving vehicle strikes have been reported in Italy.
In Orvieto, a 64-year-old man has been placed under house arrest following an incident in Morrano on October 17. Authorities allege the man used a motorcycle to intentionally strike a 55-year-old man after exchanging insults and threats. The victim sustained injuries to his leg and was thrown against a wall; medical professionals estimated a 15-day recovery period. The driver faces charges of aggravated personal injury and aggravated threats.
In Giugliano, a 58-year-old woman has been reported to judicial authorities for fleeing the scene of an accident in Varcaturo. Police investigation, aided by surveillance footage, determined that a red car with Polish plates struck a 77-year-old cyclist. The victim suffered facial contusions and a traumatic brain injury, requiring a 20-day prognosis. The vehicle was seized, and the driver's license has been withdrawn pending further action regarding charges of fleeing and failure to render aid.
