Separate incidents involving elderly victims result in jail sentences in UK

Two separate criminal cases involving attacks on elderly individuals in the United Kingdom have resulted in prison sentences.

In Tonbridge, a 41-year-old woman was sentenced to six years in prison at Maidstone Crown Court for burglary and fraud. The offender targeted an elderly man in his 80s at a local café, befriended him, and subsequently entered his home. While the victim was distracted, she stole his wallet and bank card, using them to make various contactless purchases across Paddock Wood and Cranbrook. Detectives identified the suspect using CCTV footage of her distinctive coat.

In a separate case, 51-year-old Wayne Milsom was sentenced to 15 years in custody at Bristol Crown Court for causing the death of 72-year-old Stephen Ridgeway. Milsom forced entry into Mr. Ridgeway’s Keynsham home while under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The victim was threatened with a knife, struck with a hammer, and kicked, leading to his death in the hospital a month later. The judge described the incident as a “cruel, callous and calculated attack” on a vulnerable man.
