Separate incidents of domestic violence reported in Paraguay and Peru
Two distinct cases of domestic violence have been reported in South America. In Hernandarias, Paraguay, a 28-year-old man was detained after allegedly destroying a room in his family home and attempting to attack his father and sister. The suspect, who has a prior record for weapons law violations, stated that his behavior was influenced by mixing alcohol with medication. Prosecutor Beatriz Adorno has ordered his detention to begin an investigation into family violence.
In the Paucarpata district of Arequipa, Peru, a 32-year-old man was arrested for attacking his 57-year-old father with glass beer bottles following a birthday celebration. The victim sustained head injuries and was treated at the Honorio Delgado hospital. The assailant allegedly attacked his father under the false suspicion that the father had abused his partner. The suspect was apprehended by local authorities while attempting to flee the scene.
