Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel visits Chabad at Rutgers
The Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rishon LeZion Chacham David Yosef, visited Chabad House at Rutgers University on September 4 to participate in morning services as the new school year begins.
During his visit, the Chief Rabbi addressed the student body, praising the efforts to reach the university's population of approximately 7,000 Jewish students. He specifically highlighted the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s mitzvah campaigns, such as tefillin and Shabbat candle-lighting, noting that participating in these traditions brings spiritual merit.
Rutgers Chabad is currently in its 48th year on campus, operating a 98,000-square-foot facility that provides a dormitory, kosher meals, and daily religious services for over 500 daily students.
