Sephora launches global initiative to combat appearance-based bullying

Sephora has launched Project Hearts Not Hate, its first global corporate initiative aimed at combating appearance-based bullying and discrimination. The campaign was introduced in partnership with Vogue Business at an event in Paris.

The initiative follows research commissioned by Sephora and conducted by Ipsos, which surveyed over 20,000 adults across 10 countries. The study found that 70% of adults globally have experienced judgment or discrimination due to their appearance, a figure that rises to 85% among individuals aged 18 to 24. In Australia, 41% of respondents identified body type, weight, or size as the primary driver of such judgment.

To support the cause, Sephora is partnering with the non-profit organization Right To Be to develop the H. E. A. R. T. S. training program. This methodology is designed to help employees and communities recognize, prevent, and intervene in cases of appearance-based harassment. Additionally, Sephora will make donations for every Sephora Collection product sold on October 9 and 10 to fund the rollout of this training. The project also involves collaboration with the Australian anti-bullying organization Bully Zero.
