Sephora launches TikTok Shop pilot in the United States

Sephora is launching a pilot program on TikTok Shop in the United States beginning September 19. The initiative, called the ‘Sephora Drop Shop’, focuses on monthly exclusive product drops designed to engage the platform’s beauty-focused audience through social commerce.

The experience will utilize a ‘retailtainment’ model, featuring interactive content, creator-led teasers, and official TikTok LIVE sessions. These livestreams will include celebrity hosts and brand founders to unveil products and answer audience questions in real-time. Products featured in these monthly drops will be exclusive to TikTok Shop initially, with select items later becoming available through Sephora’s website, physical stores, or other retail partners.

Sephora executives described the move as a strategic extension of the company’s digital efforts to meet consumers where they discover beauty. The pilot aims to gather insights into consumer behavior to inform future global rollouts. Anca Marola, Sephora’s global chief digital officer, noted the company is using a ‘test-and-learn mindset’ to evaluate the impact on sales and digital innovation.
