Seplat Energy and NEPL Provide Free Eye Care to Thousands in Edo State

The NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL) and Seplat Energy joint venture carried out a three‑day health outreach in Edo State, Nigeria, in partnership with Edo Specialist Hospital. The "Eye Can See" programme offered free eye screenings, cataract and other surgeries, distribution of prescription glasses, basic health checks and dental care to thousands of residents.

The JV supplied medical consumables while the hospital provided staff and facilities. Seplat Energy’s Director of External Affairs, Chioma Afe, said the initiative improves access to quality eye care across Edo and Delta states and helps restore sight. Hospital chief medical director Dr. Antonia Inibukun‑Njoku described the collaboration as a major step toward expanding healthcare delivery, noting that beneficiaries also received broader medical and surgical services.

Officials praised the program’s impact, with the Governor’s Special Adviser on Health, Dr. Andrew Iyamu, calling it a valuable, cost‑free service for the community.
