Seplat Energy emphasizes governance for Nigerian energy financing
Seplat Energy Plc has identified transparency, strong corporate governance, and stakeholder collaboration as essential factors for unlocking structured financing and driving sustainable growth within Nigeria’s energy sector.
Speaking at the Structured Finance Roundtable in Lagos, company executives Eleanor Adaralegbe, Executive Director, and Olaniwun Ajayi, Chief Financial Officer, emphasized that openness and high governance standards are vital for building investor confidence. Adaralegbe noted that the credibility of a management team is a fundamental component in attracting capital, stating that investors often commit funds because they believe in the leadership.
Adaralegbe further explained that Seplat Energy approaches financiers as partners rather than simply attempting to package deals for approval. This collaborative approach aims to ensure a shared understanding of objectives, helping to cultivate long-term relationships with regulators, financial institutions, and investors.
