Seplat Energy market cap hits $5.24bn as Elumelu stake exceeds $1bn

The value of Heirs Holdings’ 20.07% stake in Seplat Energy Plc has surpassed $1 billion, doubling since the investment vehicle acquired the position from French energy company Maurel & Prom in December 2025 for approximately $500 million.

Seplat Energy’s total market capitalization has reached approximately $5.24 billion. This growth follows the company’s acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) from ExxonMobil, which expanded its production capacity and asset base. The company’s average production increased to 139,509 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the first half of 2026.

Financial performance has shown significant upward trends. In 2025, Seplat reported a 144% increase in revenue to $2.73 billion. For the first half of 2026, the company recorded N2.50 trillion in revenue, with profit before tax rising 74% to N790.4 billion. The stock has also achieved milestones on the Nigerian Exchange, becoming the first listed stock to trade above N10,000 per share.
