Sepolia: Man arrested after throwing roof tiles from building rooftop
A man was arrested in the Sepolia district of Athens after a four-hour standoff on the rooftop of an apartment building on Propondidos Street. The incident began shortly after 8:00 PM when the individual climbed onto the roof and began throwing roof tiles down toward the sidewalk, endangering pedestrians.
Initial reports suggested a possible burglary, prompting an immediate response from the Fire Service. However, firefighters were unable to establish effective communication with the man. The Hellenic Police were subsequently called to manage the situation. Following approximately four hours of difficult negotiations, officers successfully persuaded the man to descend to the building's entrance, where he was taken into custody. Authorities are currently investigating the motives behind his actions.
