Sepp Kuss narrowly escapes fatal crash on Tour de France Alpe d'Huez stage

During the 20th stage of the Tour de France on the famed Alpe d'Huez climb, American rider Sepp Kuss of the Visma–Lease a Bike team lost balance on a tight turn near the finish. He struck a protective railing and fell onto a safety net that prevented him from plummeting down the cliff.

Kuss quickly recovered, rejoined the race, and was later overtaken by Richard Carapaz, who claimed the stage win, with Remco Evenepoel finishing second. Kuss described the incident as a "moment between life and death" and noted it was his second near‑fall in a short span, adding that he was relieved to escape serious injury.

The dramatic incident drew commentary from TNT Sports and highlighted the hazards of the high‑speed Alpe d'Huez descent, but the race continued to its conclusion.
