Sepsis awareness campaign introduces four-step symptom recognition guide

Sepsis, a severe and potentially fatal infection, remains a significant health concern in Germany, where more than 35,000 people die from the condition annually. According to the Aktionsbündnis Patientensicherheit, one person in Germany dies from sepsis every six minutes.

The campaign #DeutschlandErkenntSepsis has introduced a four-step mnemonic to help individuals recognize critical symptoms: assessing mental state for confusion, checking for breathing difficulties, monitoring pulse or blood pressure, and evaluating physical sensations of extreme illness or pain. If these symptoms occur during an existing infection, immediate medical attention via emergency services (112) or medical on-call services (116 117) is required.

In related news, King Harald of Norway is currently receiving treatment at Rikshospitalet in Oslo for a blood infection.
