September 11 attacks: Media and communities prepare for 25th anniversary

As the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks approaches, various commemorations and reflections are emerging. In the media, CNN anchor Carol Lin recalled the moment the network transitioned to continuous coverage after American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Lin described the initial confusion in the newsroom, noting that she originally believed a small plane had been involved before seeing live footage of the skyscraper on fire.

In Westport, Connecticut, local officials have organized a four-day observance from September 8 through 11 to honor the lives lost and the community's response to the attacks. The memorial activities include service projects, donations to non-profits, and ceremonies to recognize first responders, military members, and public servants. Sherwood Island State Park, which served as a staging area during the attacks, now hosts Connecticut’s 9/11 memorial.
