September 11 marks 25th anniversary of terrorist attacks
September 11, 2026, marks the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the crash of Flight 93. Various communities and individuals across the United States held events to honor the victims and the heroism of first responders.
In Pennsauken Township, the community gathered at the local 9/11 Memorial for a noontime ceremony and a traditional flag placement. Volunteers placed over 2,000 American flags at the memorial site, which includes a steel beam from the World Trade Center North Tower. Mayor Patrick Olivo emphasized the importance of remembrance and the township’s commitment to never forget the lives lost.
In a separate tribute, Navy veterans Jim Serger and Cory Hardy completed a 3,500-mile cross-country bicycle trek to raise funds for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The foundation provides support to military veterans and first responders. The veterans, who previously served together in Japan, noted that the mission of the organization reflects the principles of duty, honor, and sacrifice highlighted by the anniversary.
