September 11 victims' families donate artifacts and receive therapeutic support

As the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks approaches, families of victims are contributing personal artifacts and receiving therapeutic support to process the tragedy.

Jason Seymour, the son of Jacqueline “June” Norton, has loaned a rare artifact to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum: the boarding pass used by his mother and her husband to board American Airlines Flight 11. The boarding pass, along with a tattered purse containing personal items like a cellphone and a pen, survived the attacks on the World Trade Center. Seymour noted the significance of such a fragile item surviving the destruction of the towers.

In a separate effort to support healing, the nonprofit organization The Comfort Cub will distribute weighted therapeutic teddy bears to more than 1,000 families of victims. The distribution is scheduled to take place during the VOICES 25th Anniversary NYC Symposium and Commemorative Luncheon, organized by the Voices Center for Resilience.
