Serafimovski addresses Southeast European agriculture ministers in Belgrade
At the 20th annual meeting of Southeast European agriculture ministers in Belgrade, North Macedonia's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Borče Serafimovski, emphasized the importance of regional cooperation. He stated that such collaboration should provide stronger markets, increased climate resilience, and better opportunities for youth in rural areas.
Serafimovski highlighted that European integration remains a strategic priority for the country, with agricultural policies being aligned with the EU's Common Agricultural Policy. He identified the Draft Law on the Regulation of Agricultural Product Markets as a key reform to establish systemic frameworks for producer organization, market standards, and market information.
To better utilize access to the EU market, the Minister called for supporting producers in meeting European requirements, improving certification and digital documentation, and strengthening transport, storage, and cold chains. He also stressed the need to reduce unnecessary delays for perishable goods at borders. These reforms, combined with investment support through IPARD, are intended to modernize farms, processors, and rural businesses.
