Serang hosts 51st Indonesian National Chess Championship

The 51st Indonesian National Chess Championship (Kejurnas) is being held in Serang, Banten, from October 23 to 28, 2026. Hosted by the Indonesian Chess Association (PB Percasi), the event features more than 1,000 participants from various provincial associations across the country.

The competition is centered at the Convention Hall of UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin. The opening ceremony took place on Friday night at the Banten Governor's Office Pendopo, led by Banten Vice Governor Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah and PB Percasi Vice Chairman Ahmad Ramadhan.

Ahmad Ramadhan stated that Banten was selected as the host to increase the popularity of chess and showcase Indonesia's growing international standing. He noted that Indonesia's global chess rankings have improved, with the men's team rising 40 places and the women's team reaching 19th in the world.
