Serang Regency receives 190 electric rickshaws from President

The Serang Regency government has received 190 electric rickshaws provided through a presidential assistance program from Prabowo Subianto. The units arrived at the Serang Regent's Pendopo on Monday, October 19, 2026, and are being distributed via the Yayasan Gerakan Solidaritas Nasional (YGSN).

Serang Regional Secretary Zaldi Dhuhana stated that while the local government initially requested 208 units, 190 were approved for distribution. The assistance is specifically prioritized for rickshaw drivers aged 55 and older, former manual rickshaw drivers, and persons with disabilities, as the electric motors reduce the physical strain required for operation.

In cases where primary recipients are too elderly to operate the vehicles, family members are permitted to use them. Beyond supporting livelihoods, the electric rickshaws are expected to serve as an alternative transportation option in areas with limited services, such as the Anyer-Cinangka coastal tourism zone.
