Serang resident rescued from well after inhaling toxic gas

A 45-year-old man named Sakid was rescued from a well in Kampung Pabuaran, Cilayang Village, Serang Regency, after allegedly inhaling toxic gas. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 12, 2026, while the victim was attempting to repair a water pipe and pump machine at a depth of approximately 12 meters.

According to local authorities, the victim experienced sudden difficulty breathing due to trapped gas, causing him to lose balance and fall to the bottom of the well. An initial attempt by the homeowner to assist was halted due to the hazardous air quality.

A joint rescue operation was launched involving the Cikeusal Police, BPBD Banten, BPBD Serang, and Basarnas Banten. Rescue teams utilized specialized confined space procedures to ensure the safety of both the victim and the personnel during the evacuation process.
