Serbia adopts remediation plan for Deliblatska Peščara reserve

The Serbian government has adopted a remediation plan for the Deliblatska Peščara Special Nature Reserve to address the consequences of recent multi-week wildfires. The plan establishes a coordinated framework for various authorities to implement revitalization measures and improve fire prevention.

To support the restoration efforts, 50 million dinars have been allocated in the 2026 budget. The implementation of the plan is entrusted to the public enterprise ‘Vojvodinašume’, which serves as the manager of the protected area. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and relevant inspection services will monitor and control the activities.

Key components of the plan include the formation of professional teams to assess fire damage, conducting soil and multispectral analyses, and using drones and satellite imagery to monitor the terrain. Officials emphasized that activities are strictly focused on the remediation of burned areas and the preservation of natural values, rather than any new construction within the reserve.
