Serbia advances Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad motorway construction

Construction is underway on the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad motorway, a major 105.4-kilometer infrastructure project in Serbia designed to connect three key cities and stimulate regional economic growth. The motorway will feature a full profile with two lanes in each direction and a maximum speed of 130 km/h. Once completed, travel times are expected to drop significantly, with the trip from Belgrade to Zrenjanin taking approximately 35 to 40 minutes, and Zrenjanin to Novi Sad taking roughly 25 minutes.

Active work sites have been identified in the Jabučko rit area near Belgrade's northern bypass, as well as in the Aradacki and Mužljanski rit regions near Zrenjanin. The technical scope of the project includes the construction of four large bridges, several smaller bridges, 20 overpasses, seven underpasses, and 47 culverts.

To fund the project, the Serbian government has proposed laws to the National Assembly to secure long-term investment loans from three banks: UniCredit Bank Srbija, Banca Intesa, and NLB Komercijalna banka. The financing is part of a broader commercial agreement to facilitate the design and execution of the motorway works.
