Serbia advances E-763 motorway construction toward Montenegro border
Putevi Srbije has initiated a new phase in the preparation of the E-763 motorway, extending the route from Požega toward Boljare and the Montenegrin border. The project aims to connect the Serbian motorway with the Montenegrin Bar–Boljare highway.
The first phase involves an 8.86-kilometer section passing through the municipalities of Požega and Arilje. Due to the challenging terrain, this short stretch will require the construction of two tunnels—Virovo and Cerova—and 12 bridges. The route is designed for speeds between 100 and 120 km/h and includes a toll station and maintenance facilities near the Arilje junction.
To minimize impact on the urban development of Arilje, the planned route has been adjusted. This segment is part of a larger 107-kilometer Požega–Boljare section, which is considered the most technically demanding part of the Belgrade–Southern Adriatic motorway project.
