Serbia advances RHE Bistrica hydro project and residential energy subsidies

Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović is overseeing significant energy sector developments, including the progress of the RHE Bistrica hydroelectric project and residential energy efficiency initiatives.

Regarding the RHE Bistrica project, the government is coordinating with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to prepare technical and tender documentation. Key milestones include the approval of four urban projects and the issuance of eight location conditions, with more expected by late September. Preparatory works are slated to begin in the coming months, and the tender for the main power plant is expected to be announced next year.

In Kragujevac, the Ministry and the city have allocated 95.8 million dinars to provide subsidies for the energy renovation of 462 households. This program supports social vulnerable groups with up to 90 percent of work costs, while other citizens receive up to 50 or 65 percent support. Notably, 40 households have opted to install solar power plants as part of these efficiency measures.
