Serbia allocates 5.55 million dinars for temple restoration in Aleksinac
Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, the Minister for Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Issues, has signed a contract to fund the renovation and reconstruction of the Temple of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Aleksinac. The agreement, signed with the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Niš, allocates 5,550,000 dinars for the project.
The temple holds significant historical importance as it houses a memorial ossuary dedicated to the heroes of the First Serbian Uprising. The site's history is linked to the initiative of Princess Ljubica's Committee and the support of King Alexander I Karađorđević.
The funding comes at a time marking the 220th anniversary of the Battle of Deligrad, a key conflict during the First Serbian Uprising. The minister emphasized that preserving such monuments is essential for maintaining the memory of the struggle for Serbian freedom and statehood.
