Serbia and Austria seek to expand economic cooperation

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (PKS) has announced efforts to expand economic cooperation between Serbia and Austria. While existing trade and investment ties are strong due to a significant presence of Austrian companies, officials are looking to create new opportunities in technology, energy, and sustainable development.

Upcoming diplomatic and economic activities include a visit to Serbia in late September by Austria’s Federal Minister for Economy, Energy, and Tourism Wolfgang Hatmansdorfer and the President of the Austrian Economic Chamber, Marta Schultze. A reciprocal visit by a Serbian business delegation to Vienna is scheduled for the second half of October, which will feature a ‘Serbian Day’ conference to showcase Serbian economic potential to the Austrian business community.

Discussions also highlighted the importance of the Expo 2027 exhibition for positioning Serbia as an investment destination. Austria is noted as being among the most advanced in its preparations for the event, having already presented the concept for its national pavilion.
