Serbia and Croatia report strong demand for psychology and economics majors in 2026/27

In Serbia, the first enrollment round for the 2026/27 academic year shows psychology, medicine and dentistry remain the most popular choices among high‑school graduates. At the University of Belgrade and other institutions, competition is intense – for example, 360 candidates applied for 80 psychology seats in Novi Sad, and similar ratios were seen in Belgrade and Niš. Employers continue to seek engineers in mechanical, electrical and civil fields, but those programmes receive few applicants.

In Croatia, the University of Zagreb published the list of available places for the autumn intake 2026/27. Out of 3,583 free spots, the majority are in social sciences, with the Economics Faculty offering the most (519 places). The Faculty of Organization and Informatics, the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Law also have large numbers of vacancies. Psychology and communication studies have no remaining spots, while a few single places are left in niche programmes such as logopedics and molecular biology.
