Serbia and Croatia to form joint women's water polo league

The water polo associations of Serbia and Croatia have reached an agreement to launch a joint regional league for women, scheduled to begin in the 2026/2027 season. This initiative marks the return of cross-border competition for women's clubs in these nations, six years after the last edition of a similar regional league.

Serbia is expected to be represented by its four top-performing teams from the previous season: Vojvodina, Palilula, Partizan, and Crvena zvezda. From Croatia, the participating clubs are expected to include Jadran Split, Mladost, Jug, and Viktorija, with official confirmation anticipated by the end of the week.

The competition will utilize a tournament-based format rather than a traditional home-and-away system. One tournament will be held in Serbia and another in Croatia. Each Serbian club will play two matches against Croatian rivals. Results from domestic league matches between these clubs will also count toward the regional league standings. Following the tournament phase, the four highest-ranked teams will advance to a final four to determine the champion.
