Serbia and Montenegro issue summer traffic alerts amid road works

Serbian authorities warned that the upcoming weekend will see a sharp rise in traffic on major routes as temperatures approach 30 °C. Drivers are advised to rest, travel at moderate speeds and stay alert to avoid fatigue‑related incidents. At Serbian toll stations no vehicle detentions are planned, but freight trucks may wait up to two hours at certain border posts. Operating hours at the Bački Vinogradi‑Ašothalom and Horgoš 2‑Reske 2 crossings have been extended to 24 hours to reduce congestion.

In Montenegro, the Auto‑Moto Union reported increased vehicle frequency on most roads and announced numerous temporary restrictions due to ongoing reconstruction. Several regional routes (e.g., Pljevlja‑Žabljak, Bar‑Kamenički most, and R‑17) will operate on alternating traffic or be partially closed at set times. Trucks over 7.5 t are barred on major highways from 19:00 to midnight, and buses of categories M2 and M3, as well as campers, are prohibited on designated sections throughout the day.
