Serbia and Republika Srpska announce major financial aid for citizens
Governments in Serbia and Republika Srpska have announced significant one-time financial aid packages for citizens, particularly pensioners.
In Serbia, a wave of state support exceeding 960 million euros is scheduled for September. Pensioners will receive automatic payments starting September 14, with amounts up to 35,000 dinars for those on minimum pensions. Additionally, all adult citizens can apply for 6,000 dinars starting September 7, with payments beginning September 22. Parents in the child allowance system are also eligible for a one-time payment of 25,000 dinars per child.
In Republika Srpska, the government has allocated over 30 million KM for one-time assistance to pensioners. Those with pensions below the regional average of 698 KM will receive 120 KM, while those above the average will receive 80 KM. This follows a 3.55 percent pension increase implemented in August. Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina raised concerns regarding the timing of these payments relative to elections, though the Central Election Commission did not find grounds to initiate proceedings as the funds were part of a budget rebalancing.
