Balkan national teams announce rosters for World Cup qualifiers

Several Balkan national teams have released rosters for the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifying window. Slovenia's selector Aleksander Sekulić named 19 players, including returnees Vlatko Čančar and Aleksej Nikolić, though star Luka Dončić will be absent due to personal reasons.

Croatia's Tomislav Mijatović announced a 15-player squad featuring Mario Hezonja, Ivica Zubac, and Dario Šarić for matches against Latvia and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, Serbia's Dušan Alimpijević named an 18-man roster that includes NBA superstar Nikola Jokić for the August qualifiers.

In youth sports, Montenegro's U16 water polo team staged a protest during the World Championship in Zagreb, citing unfairness in the Tournament Performance Index (TPI) scoring system. Additionally, Croatia's U16 basketball team secured a dominant victory over Cyprus in the EuroBasket B division.
