Serbia and U.S. strengthen space research cooperation via Artemis Accords
Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, Bela Balint, attended a reception at the U.S. Ambassador's residence to celebrate the signing of the Artemis Accords. The event highlighted the strengthening scientific and technological partnership between Serbia and the United States.
Balint emphasized the ministry's commitment to implementing all aspects of the agreement to create practical opportunities for Serbian scientists, research institutions, universities, and innovative companies. This cooperation aims to facilitate deeper engagement with NASA and other American partners in space exploration and high-tech research.
Currently, Serbian experts are participating in the Vera C. Rubin Observatory project, described as one of the most significant modern astronomical undertakings. Future cooperation is expected to include capacity building for research units such as the Astronomical Observatory and the Vidojevica Astronomical Station. Erin Kothajmer, acting deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy, noted that the Artemis Accords reflect a shared vision for peaceful and transparent space exploration for the benefit of humanity.
