Serbia announces 18-man squad for 2027 World Cup qualifying

Coach Dušan Alimpijević named an 18‑player roster for Serbia's FIBA 2027 World Cup qualifying cycle. The list features NBA star Nikola Jokić, Vasilije Micić, Aleksa Avramović, Stefan Miljenović, Jovan Novak, Arijan Lakić, Filip Barna, Ognjen Dobrić, Nikola Đurišić, Nemanja Dangubić, Dejan Davidovac, Stefan Momirov, Tristan Vukčević, Nikola Tanasković, Nikola Jović, Dušan Ristić and Uroš Plavšić. The squad will convene on 22 June, with a closed‑door friendly against the Czech Republic on 27 June. Serbia's first qualifying matches are scheduled for 2 July in Fribourg against Switzerland and for 6 July in Belgrade versus Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Basketball federation president Nebojša Čović said the team’s mood is high but acknowledged injuries to several players. Nikola Milutinović is recovering, while Marko Gudurić and Filip Petrušev are sidelined with injuries. Aleksej Pokuševski has not responded to calls, and Bogdan Bogdanović is expected to play despite a minor issue. Čović stressed that a stronger line‑up is anticipated for the August‑September window.
