Influenza vaccination campaigns begin in Serbia and Republika Srpska
Seasonal influenza vaccination campaigns have commenced across various regions in Serbia and the Republika Srpska. In Serbia, approximately 315,000 doses have been contracted, including 288,000 doses of the trivalent Torvaxflu vaccine produced by the Torlak Institute and 27,000 doses of Sanofi Pasteur’s Vaxigrip.
Medical professionals note that the flu season has arrived earlier than in previous years. In Serbia, the Torlak vaccine is intended for adults over 18, while Vaxigrip is suitable for children aged six months and older, pregnant women, and adults. In the Republika Srpska, vaccination is expected to begin in November due to the transition from quadrivalent to trivalent vaccines, with 18,000 doses allocated for high-risk groups.
Priority groups for immunization include pregnant women, individuals over 65, and those with chronic conditions such as respiratory, cardiovascular, metabolic, or renal diseases, as well as those with compromised immune systems. Healthcare workers and employees in social welfare institutions are also encouraged to vaccinate to mitigate the risk of severe complications and community spread.
