Balkan region hosts series of humanitarian runs for cancer awareness
Multiple humanitarian and sporting events focused on breast cancer awareness and health solidarity are taking place across the Balkan region.
In Sarajevo, the 19th edition of the ‘Race for the Cure’ organized by ‘Think Pink – Zajedno smo jedno’ drew over 12,000 participants. The event raised a record 290,000 KM, which will fund free mammograms in rural areas, psychosocial support, and first-aid kits for newly operated women.
In Belgrade, the ‘Race for the Cure’ at Ada Ciganlija and the ‘Belgrade Business Run & Walk’ both saw significant turnout, with the latter attracting 10,000 participants from 480 companies to promote healthy lifestyles.
In Montenegro, the ‘Fun run Gorica 2026’ and the ‘Race for the Cure’ in Podgorica are scheduled to support children with serious illnesses and women facing cancer, respectively. Additionally, the ‘Lapad Run’ in Croatia successfully raised funds for the Dubrovnik League Against Cancer through its 5km and 10km races.
