Balkan governments launch various financial aid and subsidy programs

Various governments in the Balkans are implementing new financial aid and subsidy programs.

In Republika Srpska, the government has launched a 4.6 million KM program to support energy efficiency in residential buildings. Citizens can receive up to 5,000 KM for thermal insulation, window replacement, heat pumps, and solar panels. Additionally, the government has extended fuel subsidies of 0.10 KM per liter until October 15, 2026, to mitigate rising oil prices. The administration is also continuing the settlement of old foreign currency savings through bond issuances.

In Croatia, a pilot program has been introduced to support large families. Families with four or more children can apply for subsidies of up to 15,000 EUR to purchase vehicles with seven or more seats, aiming to improve mobility and address demographic challenges.

In Serbia, a significant number of citizens have applied for a one-time cash payment of 6,000 dinars. While the government presents this as support, some economists and student groups have criticized the measure as a populist tool ahead of elections. Meanwhile, the Republic Geodetic Authority has reported that over 600,000 citizens have successfully registered property following new legal reforms.
