Serbia criticizes Bosnian Defense Minister over comments on Mladić and Dayton Agreement

Serbian Minister without Portfolio for Diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, has criticized Bosnian Defense Minister Zukan Helez for using the death of General Ratko Mladić to launch what he describes as a dangerous political attack on Serbia and Republika Srpska.

Milićević stated that while individuals are entitled to their own views on Mladić, Helez’s comments go beyond reacting to a death. He accused the Defense Minister of calling for international sanctions against Serbia, questioning its European path, and labeling Republika Srpska a ‘genocidal creation.’

The Serbian official emphasized that Helez’s call to re-examine the legitimacy of Republika Srpska’s existence and to revise the Dayton Agreement threatens the foundations of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Milićević maintained that Serbia respects the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Dayton Agreement, expecting reciprocal respect for Serbia and Republika Srpska.
