Serbia: Deadline for illegal property registration expires tonight
The deadline for citizens in Serbia to register illegally constructed buildings under the ‘Svoj na svome’ law expires at midnight. This extended period is specifically for individuals who could not meet the original February 8 deadline due to objective reasons, such as illness, being abroad, or administrative obstacles.
Dalibor Babić, acting director of the Republic Geodetic Authority (RGZ), reported that 2.7 million applications have been received so far, with approximately 200,000 submitted during this supplementary period. The state has issued 1.2 million property rights confirmations, and the cadastre is currently processing about 11,500 objects daily to expedite the registration process.
Applications can be submitted electronically via the ‘Svoj na svome’ portal, at Post of Serbia counters, or through local self-government offices. Registration fees range from 100 to 1,000 euros depending on the property's size and location, though certain groups, including social assistance recipients and persons with disabilities, are exempt from these costs.
