Serbia declares 2027 as Year of Saint Despot Stefan Lazarević

The Serbian Government has officially declared 2027 as the Year of Saint Despot Stefan Lazarević. This decision commemorates the 650th anniversary of his birth and the 600th anniversary of his death.

Ministries responsible for culture, education, science, information, and tourism are tasked with preparing commemorative programs by the end of 2026. The initiative aims to preserve the memory of his contributions to Serbian statehood, culture, and spiritual identity. Projects related to this observance will be granted priority and special significance, with coordination led by the Ministry of Culture.
