Serbia Drafts Land Consolidation Law for Faster, Transparent Procedures

The Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management hosted a round‑table in Belgrade to present the Draft Law on Land Consolidation. The proposed legislation aims to accelerate consolidation processes, enhance legal certainty for participants, and improve coordination among authorities. Key measures include clearer definitions of institutional responsibilities, set timelines for each consolidation phase, refined valuation methods, and a new Information System that will digitally track procedures and facilitate data exchange.

The draft aligns Serbia’s land‑use framework with European Union standards, supporting the country’s Reform Agenda and Western Balkans Growth Plan. Officials highlighted that the law seeks to protect land‑owners’ rights while promoting more efficient, sustainable use of agricultural land, infrastructure development, and rural growth. Stakeholders from the Republic Geodetic Authority and other agencies endorsed the proposals, and the ministry invited public input during the consultation period.
