Serbia employment survey reveals rising job insecurity

A survey conducted in June 2026 by Osiguranik, Infostud, Rezilient, and TIM Centar reveals significant job insecurity among employees in Serbia. The study, which sampled 3,452 employees and 842 decision-makers, indicates that 16% of workers are very concerned about losing their jobs in the next 12 months, while an additional 55% feel some level of concern.

In response to economic and social uncertainty, 74% of companies have implemented cost-saving or productivity measures over the past year. The most common measures include increased pressure on productivity (44%), salary freezes or lack of raises (32%), hiring freezes (28%), layoffs (27%), and the removal of benefits (23%).

The research also highlights a communication gap, with only 26% of employees believing that management communicates openly about company performance, while 51% feel they receive information selectively. Additionally, artificial intelligence is noted as already impacting job numbers in specific industries.
