Serbia: Heirs can claim 6,000 dinars from free shares

Heirs of deceased citizens in Serbia who were holders of rights to free shares may be entitled to a cash compensation of 6,000 dinars. While the general payout process for citizens has concluded, heirs face a more complex procedure to claim these funds.

To claim the money, heirs must visit a branch of Bank Poštanska štedionica in person with a valid ID and a legally binding probate decree (ostavinsko rešenje). Crucially, the probate decree must explicitly include both the right to the cash compensation and the right to the transfer of the free shares. Simply inheriting a deceased person's bank account or general assets does not automatically grant access to these specific funds.

If the 6,000 dinar compensation is not mentioned in the existing probate decree, heirs may need to obtain a supplementary decree to include this specific asset. There is no deadline for withdrawing these funds from the Shareholder Fund.
